Vector Analysis
Description:
The project was done at Central Power Research Institute, leading government firm situated at Bangalore, India in the field of electricals and electronics.
Initial idea was to do a research based study in calculating power in 3 phase 3 wire system using two watt meter method. During months of research , I came up with the idea of using the concepts of vector analysis and created a simulation tool to calculate power with high accuracy.
Technical Details:
Programming Languages
C++ – Programming language.
Hardware
Energy Meter Test Gear – Meter Testing
Energy Meter Test Bench – Meter Reading
Vector Analysis – Representational methodology
Microcontrollers – Used for connecting with the machine which did meter reading in order to verify readings in the simulation program.
Role:
Lead Programmer and Interface Designer. My primary role was to create a front end simulation tool for energy meter testing gear. Later on I was also assigned to work with researchers in the lab who helped me with connecting my simulation program with the machines which did meter reading. As a result I was able to verify the readings of machines with that of my program.
Challenges:
It was my first experience to work with industry researchers and working with microcontrollers! It took months of hard work to break the barrier which turned out to be something useful at the end.
Outcome & Achievement:
I was the youngest researcher at Central Power Research Institute and successfully implemented the desired goal.
